About us
Our purpose at He Must Increase is to both encourage and challenge the reader to build a deeper, more passionate relationship with God. We seek to aid the believer in, not simply knowing about God, but knowing Him. We do not attempt to do this by personal wisdom or knowledge but through the Word of God. We do not seek to interpret the Scriptures through our own understanding but through the Holy Spirit opening our eyes to see and giving us a heart to understand. We are fully reliant on Him knowing that we do not possess these abilities on our own (1 Corinthians 4:7).
We believe the Scripture is clear about what every believer’s purpose is. We are all called to glorify God (Isaiah 43:7; 1 Corinthians 6:20). That means that when a believer is saved their sole purpose is to glorify God, even in the most basic of human acts (1 Corinthians 10:31). We are also commanded to be holy (1 Peter 1:16). Not holier than your neighbor, or holier than your classmate, but holy period. God does not call only pastors to be holy or to glorify God in all that they say and do, but rather all believers have received this calling. No believer is exempt from our ultimate purpose.
These are not simple commands. In fact, they are impossible commands under our own strength. We need Him in order to obey Him.
Therefore, if we are to be the holy, obedient children that God calls us to be we need to be totally surrendered to Him. We need to wait on Him, rely on Him, and trust Him each moment of every day. We need more of Him and less of us. In other words, He must increase, but we must decrease (John 3:30).
